Nucala® (Mepolizumab) Injection Therapy

Targeted Biologic for Severe Eosinophilic Asthma and Rare Inflammatory Conditions

Clearwell Infusion Centers provides convenient administration of Nucala (mepolizumab) for patients with severe asthma and eosinophil-driven diseases. Our Miami center offers private treatment suites, personalized care, and flexible scheduling to make ongoing biologic therapy easier and more comfortable.

What Is Nucala?

Nucala® (mepolizumab) is an FDA-approved monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-5 (IL-5), a key driver of eosinophilic inflammation. It reduces the number of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell), which helps control severe inflammation and decrease disease flares.

Nucala is administered as a subcutaneous injection once every 4 weeks, either in a healthcare setting or at home (if approved).

Conditions Treated with Nucala

Nucala is indicated for patients 6 years and older with:

  • Severe eosinophilic asthma
  • Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA)
  • Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES)
  • Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP)

It is typically used when high eosinophil counts drive symptoms, and when other treatments have not adequately controlled the condition.

Nucala Side Effects

Nucala is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects include:

  • Headache
  • Injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling)
  • Back pain
  • Fatigue
  • Respiratory tract infections

Serious allergic reactions are rare but possible. All patients receiving Nucala in-office are monitored following the injection per Clearwell’s ACHC-accredited safety protocols.
