Ocrevus® (Ocrelizumab) IV Infusion
Disease-Modifying Treatment for Relapsing and Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis
Clearwell Infusion Centers provides professional administration of Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) for patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Our Miami center offers private infusion suites, low patient-to-nurse ratios, and personalized care in a comfortable, outpatient setting.
What Is Ocrevus?
Ocrevus® (ocrelizumab) is an FDA-approved monoclonal antibody used to treat adults with:
- Relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (RMS), including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting MS, and active secondary progressive MS
- Primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS)
Ocrevus works by targeting CD20-positive B cells, which are believed to play a role in the autoimmune process that damages the central nervous system in MS. By reducing B cells, Ocrevus slows disease progression and reduces relapse rates.
It is administered via IV infusion every 6 months after two initial loading doses.
Learn more at the official Ocrevus website.
Who Is Ocrevus For?
Ocrevus is prescribed for adults with:
- Active relapsing forms of MS
- Primary progressive MS (PPMS)
- Evidence of inflammatory disease activity on MRI or clinical symptoms
Your neurologist will determine whether Ocrevus is the right fit based on disease course, MRI findings, and treatment history.
Ocrevus Side Effects
Ocrevus is generally well tolerated, but like all immunosuppressive medications, it may carry some risks. Common side effects include:
- Infusion-related reactions (fever, chills, rash, nausea)
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Back pain
Rare but serious risks include infections, including hepatitis B reactivation, and a potential increased risk of malignancy. Patients are pre-medicated before each infusion and monitored closely throughout.
