What Is Kisunla?

Kisunla™ (donanemab) is an FDA-approved monoclonal antibody used to treat adults with early symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease, including mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and mild dementia due to Alzheimer’s. It targets and helps clear beta-amyloid plaques, a hallmark of the disease, to slow clinical progression.

Kisunla is administered as an IV infusion every 4 weeks for up to 12–18 months or until beta-amyloid clearance is confirmed.

Who Is Eligible for Kisunla?

Kisunla is approved for patients who:

• Are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s (MCI or mild dementia)
• Have confirmed amyloid pathology via PET scan or CSF testing
• Have a care team to support monitoring and follow-up

Eligibility requires close coordination with a neurologist, memory specialist, or Alzheimer’s center.

Kisunla Side Effects

Kisunla may cause side effects, including amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) — changes seen on brain MRI that may involve swelling or small bleeds. These are often asymptomatic but require careful monitoring.

Other potential side effects include:

• Headache
• Flu-like symptoms
• Infusion-related reactions
• Nausea or dizziness
