What Is Fasenra?

Fasenra® (benralizumab) is an FDA-approved biologic therapy used to treat severe eosinophilic asthma in adults and children ages 12 and older. It is a monoclonal antibody that works by targeting and depleting eosinophils — a type of white blood cell involved in asthma-related inflammation.

Fasenra is administered as a subcutaneous injection once every 4 weeks for the first 3 doses, and then every 8 weeksthereafter. It is used in combination with your current asthma maintenance medications to reduce exacerbations and improve breathing.

Conditions Treated with Fasenra

Fasenra is approved to treat:

• Severe eosinophilic asthma (with elevated eosinophil counts)

It is prescribed for patients whose asthma is not well controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and other standard treatments.

Fasenra Side Effects

Fasenra is generally well tolerated, but as with any injection therapy, side effects may occur. Common side effects include:

• Muscle or joint pain
