Radicava® (Edaravone) IV Infusion Therapy

FDA-Approved Treatment for Slowing the Progression of ALS

Clearwell Infusion Centers offers safe, supportive administration of Radicava (edaravone) for patients diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Our Miami-based outpatient facility provides private suites, personalized care, and flexible scheduling to support patients and families through this ongoing treatment.

What Is Radicava?

Radicava® (edaravone) is an FDA-approved intravenous medication designed to slow the loss of physical function in patients with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). It works as a free radical scavenger, helping to reduce oxidative stress—one of the suspected contributors to motor neuron damage in ALS.

Radicava is administered through IV infusion in cycles, typically over 10–14 days followed by a rest period. A newer oral version is available, but many patients continue to receive IV therapy under physician guidance.

Learn more at the official Radicava website.

Who Should Receive Radicava?

Radicava is indicated for adults with ALS and may be most effective in earlier stages of the disease when physical function is still largely intact. It may help:

  • Slow functional decline, as measured by ALSFRS-R scores
  • Preserve independence with activities of daily living
  • Improve quality of life when used in combination with multidisciplinary ALS care

Your neurologist or ALS specialist will determine eligibility based on clinical presentation and progression.

Radicava Side Effects

Radicava is generally well tolerated, but potential side effects include:

  • Bruising or pain at the infusion site
  • Headache
  • Gait disturbances
  • Allergic reactions, including rare sulfite sensitivity

At Clearwell, patients are closely monitored during and after each infusion using ACHC-accredited safety protocols to ensure comfort and rapid response to any adverse effects.
